THE CHALLENGE
Stay ahead of the game
BASF Professional and Specialty Solutions (PFSS) division comprises an arsenal of established “classic” products that are continuously being improved, and advanced products featuring state-of-the-art technology. This legacy of tried-and-true mixed with futuristic innovation has helped BASF maintain its leadership position in the pest control industry.
But BASF didn’t want to rest on their laurels. They wanted to elevate their presence and their position as market leader by always staying ahead of the game—which was the perfect theme for their PestWorld booth.
THE SOLUTION
Classic with a twist
To highlight both legacy and innovation within the theme, Impact XM created 2 custom pinball machines. One was a classic arcade game retrofitted to highlight their “Classic Solutions”, and one was a virtual pinball experience designed to showcase their latest, state-of-the-art solutions in a “New Innovations Edition”.
Additionally, booth visitors engaged with an artificial intelligence (AI) photo booth. Once they provided their contact info, they could get their picture taken and choose a pest for their “Pest Portrait” from 1 of 12 predetermined pests. The AI program combined the pests with the face of the person, creating a fun and cool “Pest Portrait” that was placed in a badge holder with a BASF-branded lanyard. Portrait images were also sent via email, along with a personalized “thanks for visiting” message.
Booth attendees were given a card upon arrival with 4 questions that took them through various engagements to get the answers, enter a contest, and potentially win one of 4 Yeti tailgating prizes (1 per day picked by random drawing).
THE IMPACT
BASF was definitely ahead of the game—no contest. Booth attendees were lined up to engage with the pinball machines, and there were about 300 photos taken at the AI booth. They scanned approximately 650 people over 16 show hours, and the booth attracted a steady stream of traffic throughout the show.
