Crafting a Groundbreaking Experiential Engagement

THE CHALLENGE

Redefining Navigate’s Purpose

This year’s SailPoint Navigate event was driven by a company-wide objective to enhance its flagship event and support SailPoint’s broader strategic goals. Recognizing the importance of staying at the forefront of innovation and connection in the identity security industry, SailPoint aimed to transform Navigate into a more dynamic and inclusive experience. The key objectives included refreshing the event to appeal to a new and more diverse audience, fostering stronger connections among attendees, and providing deeper, hands-on engagement opportunities.

SailPoint needed to balance tradition with innovation, retaining the core elements that long-time attendees valued while integrating new features to attract fresh audiences. By focusing on creating a more engaging and inclusive atmosphere, SailPoint sought to overcome any stagnation and ensure the event’s continued relevance in an evolving market landscape.

This iteration of Navigate represented a significant departure from previous years. While earlier events emphasized SailPoint’s offerings, this year’s objectives focused on broader industry engagement, signaling a shift in focus towards thought leadership and community building. The event needed to be designed to not only inform but also to inspire, paving the way for SailPoint’s future growth as a central figure in the identity security space.

THE SOLUTION

Engagement Through Experiences

Impact XM supported SailPoint in transforming this year’s Navigate event into a larger, fully immersive experience. Attendees were greeted at a grand registration area, setting an energetic tone with branded swag to kickstart their journey.

From registration, attendees entered a stunning grand lobby, leading to a 1,870-square-foot expo hall featuring “The Core,” an upgraded demo space. Five interactive kiosks fostered engagement, while a central coffee bar encouraged networking. Sponsor booths, seating pods, and a chandelier centerpiece enhanced the lively atmosphere.

Unique spaces like the Admirals Club and Identity Lounge promoted community and connection. Impact XM played a key role in crafting standout moments, including a 3D photo-op, a live broadcast studio, and Swag Shop pop-up, offering attendees interactive and personalized experiences.

The cornerstone general session hosted over 1,800 attendees. A dramatic stage design, complete with a 19′ x 19′ central screen and custom LED tubes, brought SailPoint’s branding to life. The opening video created a dynamic kickoff for two days of programming.

The Executive Circle dinner provided an immersive dining experience with a molecular gastronomy menu, projection-mapped visuals, and a live string trio. The evening culminated in a cherry blossom tree reveal, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and creativity. The event concluded with a vibrant Block Party at Icon Park, featuring restaurant takeovers and a performance by The Fray.

This celebration captured the event’s focus on community and engagement. To sustain momentum, SailPoint executed a robust post-event strategy with personalized follow-ups, session recordings, and feedback collection, ensuring ongoing engagement and continuous improvement for future events.

THE IMPACT

Navigate 2024 achieved remarkable results, surpassing expectations and reinforcing SailPoint’s position as a leader in identity security. The event welcomed 1,830 in-person attendees, exceeding SailPoint’s goal of a 20% year-over-year increase in attendance. Media coverage reached new heights with 183 unique pieces published, reflecting widespread interest in the conference’s key topics and sessions.

 

Social media engagement further amplified the event’s impact. There were over 310 posts about Navigate 2024 from 135 unique authors, generating more than 7,100 engagements and 3.7 million potential impressions. Posts featuring the event hashtag (#Navigate24) drove over 6,300 likes, comments, and shares, showcasing the event’s success in fostering online conversations and extending its reach beyond the venue.
