Crafted to redefine how the world experiences agricultural production

“The BASF Center for Sustainable Agriculture is about more than just BASF. This is part of the community, showing North Carolina and beyond the impact of sustainability on the food we eat, the fuel we use…and it does so in a way that everyone from children to scientists can easily understand and enjoy.”

THE CHALLENGE

Create and engage a wide range of audiences

BASF wanted to create a permanent environment that would educate and influence visitors in their modern agricultural production offerings. BASF knew this meant approaching the subject matter through a new lens, putting a dynamic twist on the redesign of an existing space.

THE SOLUTION

A dynamic space that spoke to a diverse group in the language that mattered

Impact XM designed a space that served student field trips, executive meetings, and guest receptions alike. The revamped Center was designed to highlight BASF’s work in the areas of sustainability and biodiversity, food, fuel, fiber, agricultural technology, and pest control clear and uncluttered, matching the versatility of the space itself.

The showstopper: A large, 20-foot wide, curved LED video wall serves as the centerpiece of the space surrounded by three multitouch smart tables controlled that allow users to choose the content of interest and multiple exhibits. Impact XM created original content designed to draw the visitors on a journey through BASF’s history, capabilities, and future goals around the sustainable production of food, feed, fuel, and fiber.

Elsewhere, guests were engaged to test their knowledge of agriculture with the Pop Crops Quiz, chat with onsite experts, or interact with the Seed to Shelf interactive kiosk. Finally, the space features an interactive model house, enabling guests to discover the innovations and technologies that help control pests both out in the field and at home.

THE IMPACT

Impact XM created an experience that thrilled customers, students, employees, community stakeholders, and prospective employees alike. The new BASF Center held its grand opening on April 25th, 2022. Along with Senator Richard Burr in attendance, BASF executives, members of the media, and guests toured the center and newly renovated gardens.

Experiencing BASF this way provides new insight and understanding for thousands of guests each year and has supported recruiting efforts as candidates for employment are able to visit the center and gain even greater insight into the mission of this division of the organization.
